Plotting in 3-D
In this section, you'll find out how to plot data in 3-D for easier viewing and calculation.
The general idea of plotting functions in 3-D is to make it easier for scientists to do calculations. This is done by using a third dimension, so that they can see the changes in data on a surface (rather than just looking at charts). This method has been used most commonly in meteorology and hydrology. It was first used by German scientist Carl Friedrich Gauss in the late 1700s.
